 Reporting to Head of the department, the main duties include: To collect field data on wetlands of Kenya, analyse and synthesize into information that can be used by resource managers in wetlands monitoring and management.

 

 

 July 1999 – July 2001:                 

 

 

 

 

   

National Technical Officer , Global Environmental Facility (GEF)-United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) Rift Valley Lakes Project (Kenya).

 

 

 

Reporting to National Project Co-ordinator, the main duties included: To develop a database and reference collection of literature on Rift Valley Lakes, Prepare reports of activities being undertaken by the project and Update the existing wetlands inventory and database.

Participated in Masters of Science  Ecological Marine Management field work research at the Belgian Coast, Southern NorthSea and Spuikom lagoon,Oostende, Belgium. Acquire skills and techniques in field sampling procedures, laboratory analysis and identification of marine organisms. Areas covered were sampling of benthos, zooplankton, nutrients, particulate organic carbon, chlorophyll and primary production.

Participated in a teamwork research expedition in Lake Victoria on water hyacinth. The study investigated the economic, social and ecological impacts of the water hyacinth and envisaged to propose to propose environmental friendly mitigating strategies of controlling it.
